The transformations of the international scene in the last few years have generated broad discussion on the possibility of constitution of a new global order with some affirming this to be a moment of rearrangement of political forces within the established order and others defending the possibility of integral renovation of global power relations.

THE USE OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL VISUALIZATION TOOLS TO DETECT DEFICIENCIES IN GEOMETRIC ROADWAY DESIGNS

The use of three-dimensional (3D) visualization technologies in the field oftransportation sciences has contributed not only to the assessment of the impact of aroad project on its surroundings but also to the development and study of elementsof the geometric design itself. The present study aimed to assess the effectiveness ofthe use of 3D visualization tools in the detection of poor compatibility between thehorizontal and vertical alignments of a road project. The assessment was performedby conducting tests with groups of participants who were students from a civilengineering course with no experience in the development of geometric roadwaydesigns. These participants each assessed two road stretches: one stretch withunflawed coordination between the vertical and horizontal alignments of the roadand another stretch in which this coordination had been intentionally distorted. Itwas used an application software for roadway geometric designs that allowed the creation of a video of the trajectory of the targeted road. Subsequently, theparticipants answered a questionnaire that aided the interpretation of the resultsregarding the design deficiencies in road layouts perceived from the 3Dvisualization of the roadways

PURPOSE: To evaluate the 36-month efficacy of intravitreal ranibizumab injections for choroidal neovascularization secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in real world clinical practice. METHODS: Retrospective study involving 84 eyes of 77 patients; 52 eyes completed 3 years of follow-up. Subjects were observed initially on a monthly basis and with extended follow-up intervals if signs of quiescence were detected, according to an established protocol. A comprehensive ophthalmologic examination was performed, including best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) determined with Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study charts, stereoscopic macular biomicroscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT) with fluorescein angiography and indocyanine green angiography if considered necessary. Treatment was given if signs of active lesions were present. RESULTS: The mean baseline BCVA was 49.33 and 49.52 letters at the 36-month visit. The average of treatments was 8.6 at 3 years. At this time point, 77% of treated eyes stabilized or improved their vision (VA loss ≤ 5 letters). A predictive value for better VA was found for younger age, better baseline VA, good response on OCT and more frequent treatments. CONCLUSION: At 3 years, intravitreal ranibizumab is able to maintain baseline VA in exudative AMD patients, with a reduced number of injections, but not to show VA improvement, in clinical practice.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Guerra e Negócios: o que a Literatura Tem a Dizer sobre o Assunto?

This article aims to analyze the contemporary scientific production that relates war to business through an exploratory review of the corresponding literature in which we sought to identify the main research themes and theoretical-empirical contributions on the topic. As a result, it was observed that war entails both risks and opportunities for business, presenting itself as a dichotomous environment: at times propelling, at times repulsive of investments. Another aspect highlighted in this work refers to the dispersion of literature in different areas of knowledge, which has made it difficult to build a research agenda that explores the multifaceted nature of the phenomenon. In that regard, the purpose of this article is to contribute to the articulation of such evidence by generating seven theoretical propositions and an analytical framework to point out research opportunities related to the topic in question.

Q fever is caused by the pathogen Coxiella burnetii and is a zoonosis that naturally infects goats, sheep, and cats, but can also infect humans, birds, reptiles, or arthropods. A survey was conducted for the detection of antibodies against C. burnetii in a sample of 617 free-ranging wild ruminants, 358 wild boar (Sus scrofa) and 259 red deer (Cervus elaphus), in east-central Portugal during the 2016-2022 hunting seasons. Only adult animals were sampled in this study. Antibodies specific to C. burnetii were detected using a commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA; IDVet(R), Montpellier, France) according to the manufacturer's instructions. The seroprevalence of C. burnetii infection was 1.5% (n = 9; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.7-2.8%). Antibodies against C. burnetii were detected in 4/358 wild boar (1.1%; 95% CI: CI: 0.3-2.8%) and 5/259 red deer (1.9%; 0.6-4.5%). Results of the present study indicate that antibodies against C. burnetii were present in wild boar and red deer in Portugal. These findings can help local health authorities to focus on the problem of C. burnetii in wildlife and facilitate the application of a One Health approach to its prevention and control

Coxiella burnetii is a zoonotic microorganism that infects a wide range of wild and domestic species, causing the disease Q fever, frequently involving ticks as vectors. To better understand the occurrence of C. burnetii infection in wild boar (Sus scrofa) and red deer (Cervus elaphus), an epidemiological study was conducted in the Centre region of Portugal.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
